Joseph A. Cabrera, a Vice Chairman with CBRE, is one of the most active dealmakers in the real estate industry. He consistently delivers integrated real estate solutions to corporate tenants and landlords across the region and around the world.
Over the course of his 30+ year career, Mr. Cabrera has completed more than 4,000 transactions, totaling in excess of 50 million square feet of space in 250 cities globally. Thomson Reuters, Sidley, FactSet Research Systems, KPMG, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Campari Group, Bank of Montreal, Skanska, AlixPartners, and many other well-recognized brand names in the corporate arena have benefitted from his expertise, innovative thinking and commitment to real estate strategies that facilitate long-term success.
Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Cabrera served as a Vice Chairman in the Eastern Region of Colliers International where he was Global Chairman of Colliers’ Occupier Advisors, which encompasses many of the firm’s elite tenant representation professionals worldwide. Mr. Cabrera was also a Vice Chairman at Cushman & Wakefield. In addition to serving other clients and providing leadership within the firm’s brokerage group, he oversaw the Thomson Reuters account as primary advisor worldwide. Earlier, Mr. Cabrera was an Executive Managing Director at Insignia/ESG, Inc. and Northeast Regional President of The Galbreath Company, where he developed the Fairfield and Westchester County offices into a regional force.
Throughout his impressive career, Mr. Cabrera has earned numerous awards including the Real Estate Board of New York’s Robert T. Lawrence Memorial Award for Thomson Reuters’ 855,000-square-foot relocation, consolidation, and financial restructuring at 3 Times Square; the NAIOP Deal of the Year award for Citicorp North America’s relocation to First Stamford Place from 7 World Trade Center; and the 2018 NAIOP Deal of the Year award for FactSet Research Systems’ headquarters.
During his tenure with Colliers, Mr. Cabrera was recognized each year as a member of the Everest Club, which distinguishes the firm’s top brokers nationally. At Cushman & Wakefield, he was a top broker in each of his 14 years with the firm; and he was named the Galbreath Company’s Broker of the Year, the leading producer globally.
Joe has served on the Board of Directors for United Way of New York City for nearly 20 years, serving the past 20 years as Vice Chairman of the Board. He chairs their annual signature fundraising event, the Gridiron Gala, in conjunction with the NY Giants and the NY Jets. Joe has been the driving force in raising well over $40 million dollars for United Way over 50 years. In addition, Joe is the Co-Chair of Nominating and Membership Committee. Joe also sits in the Board of Directors of Barbara`s House (Formerly Community Centers, Inc. of Greenwich). He chairs the nominating and membership committee as well as runs Barbara`s House Signature Fundraising event.
Columbia College named Mr. Cabrera as one of its 2017 John Jay Award honorees in recognition of his leadership in the commercial real estate industry, success on behalf of clients, and commitment to philanthropy and the College.
