In September 2018, CBRE Group, Inc. (NYSE: CBRE) acquired CB Richard Ellis-N.E. Partners, L.P. (CBRE/New England), a long-standing joint venture with Whittier Partners Group and the leading full-service commercial real estate services operation in New England.

Mr. Kern joined CBRE/New England in 1996 and is responsible for client satisfaction by achieving the financial and operational objectives for an 8 MSF portfolio of buildings located in Boston. Ken has over 30 years of property management and construction experience with particular expertise in lease negotiation, tenant fit-up, construction, tenant retention and facility management. Mr. Kern has a broad scope of duties that are made up of assisting in new business development, including identification of opportunities, client solicitation, proposal development and presentation.

Mr. Kern interacts regularly with clients to ensure objectives are being met. He supervises all aspects of property management within his portfolio, including accounting and project management. Mr. Kern conducts inspections of his properties regularly. Buildings types range from One Beacon Street, a 1,017,000 SF high-rise office tower, to smaller 15,000 SF three-story office buildings. Mr. Kern is also responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching and motivating direct reports. He is currently responsible for a staff of approximately 60 employees ranging from entry level to high-rise general managers. He was originally employed with Koll Management Services and went through promotions and mergers, which ultimately led to his current position with CBRE/NE.
