Matt leads a specialized Private Equity practice advising sponsors and their portfolio companies on how to unlock financial and operational improvements, and cost savings, from leased or owned real estate. Matt founded the practice within CBRE in response to the 2008 global financial crisis to improve operating efficiency, cash flow and EBITDA, and provide capital markets solutions.

Over the last decade, Matt has advised more than 200 PE-owned portfolio companies with tactical real estate strategies resulting in over $750 million of annual savings and enterprise value creation exceeding $3.8 billion. His experience spans portfolio companies in every sector, including Industrials, Technology, Healthcare and Life Sciences. Matt works with a variety of investment strategies, including buyout, distressed and infrastructure funds.

With 20 years of experience in real estate, Matt brings a deep understanding on all facets of commercial real estate. His unparalleled knowledge of the CBRE platform allows him to consult holistically on the needs of his private equity clients. He provides consultative expertise developing opportunity assessments, benchmarking analysis, portfolio optimization, economic incentives, headquarters strategies, M&A due diligence, acquisitions, dispositions, real estate development, and capital market solutions throughout the U.S. and globally.

Matt’s team delivers CBRE’s best-of-class execution across an array of project types, from complex headquarters and consolidations to more common requests including, sale leasebacks, leasing transactions, and alternative capital solutions for PE-owned and occupied real estate.

Since joining CBRE in 2002, Matt served as a Managing Director for CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) division developing expertise in transaction services, project management, and facilities management. He was also a Vice President in Boston and works extensively in the New York and Los Angeles markets.
