Matt leads a specialized Private Equity Advisory practice, advising sponsors and portfolio companies on how to unlock financial and operational improvements from leased and owned real estate. He founded the practice within CBRE in response to the 2008 financial crisis, focusing on driving operational efficiency, enhancing cash flow and EBITDA, and delivering capital markets solutions.
Over the past decade, Matt has advised 200+ private equity backed companies, implementing real estate strategies that have generated $750 million in annual savings and created more than $3.8 billion in enterprise value. His expertise spans diverse sectors, including Industrials, Technology, Healthcare, and Life Sciences, and he works with a range of investment strategies such as buyout, distressed, and infrastructure funds.
With 20 years of experience, Matt brings deep knowledge on all aspects of commercial real estate. His unparalleled understanding of CBRE’s platform allows him to provide holistic, strategic guidance at the portfolio company level that is aligned with operational and financial objectives.
Matt offers consultative expertise and financial analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities, risk mitigation strategies, and capital market solutions, including mark-to-market benchmarking, M&A due diligence, GIS-based intelligent site selection, headquarters strategies, acquisitions, dispositions, real estate development, project management, and economic incentives both domestically and globally.
Matt’s team delivers best-of-class execution across complex projects, including restructurings, and more common engagements such as sale leasebacks, leasing transactions, and alternative capital solutions for PE-owned real estate.
Since joining CBRE in 2002, Matt has served as Managing Director in CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) division, specializing in cost saving strategies for Fortune 500 corporations. He was a Vice President in Boston and works extensively in the New York and west coast markets. Matt is consistently recognized as a CBRE Top Advisor, including in 2023 and 2024.
