Mike Slattery is a seasoned real estate research leader with more than a decade of experience guiding data driven insights for the world’s largest commercial real estate services firm. As Research Director at CBRE, Mike oversees research strategy, market intelligence, and thought leadership initiatives across the New York City metropolitan area—one of the most dynamic and complex commercial real estate markets globally.
Since joining CBRE in 2012, Mike has risen through multiple research roles—including Research Analyst, Senior Research Analyst, Team Lead, Manager, Associate Director, and Director—before stepping into his current leadership position. His responsibilities have spanned managing broker driven research requests, analyzing real time market data, tracking citywide leasing activity, and shaping the narrative behind CBRE’s market reports and analytical briefs.
Prior to CBRE, Mike gained foundational industry experience at the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), where he served as a Research Associate. In that role, he supported zoning and land-use inquiries, trained brokers, analyzed market trends, and participated in City Planning and City Council proceedings—experience that deepened his understanding of New York’s regulatory and development landscape.
Mike is widely recognized for his ability to translate complex market forces into clear, actionable insights. He regularly contributes expert commentary on topics such as Manhattan leasing dynamics, retail market evolution, office sector performance, and tenant behavior trends, frequently sharing analysis through CBRE publications and professional channels.
He holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from New York University, complementing his practical expertise with formal training in real estate finance, market analysis, and development strategy. Mike also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The College of New Jersey, bringing a unique analytical perspective to occupier behavior and market demand.
