Michael Straw is Executive Vice President of CBRE’s Institutional Hotels Debt & Structured Finance team. In this role, Michael specializes in the advisory, origination and placement of debt and equity transactions for the world’s leading hotel owners, investors and developers.
With more than ten years of legal and commercial real estate experience, Michael leverages a depth of knowledge to navigate complex finance transactions. Over the course of his career, Michael has represented clients on over $45 billion of transactions, most recently originating more than $7 billion in 2022.
Prior to joining CBRE in 2023, Michael served on the Capital Markets team for Hodges Ward Elliott since helping found the group in 2016. Prior to that, he was an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he advised on matters relating to REITs, gaming and lodging as part of the firm’s M&A group.
