Nic Smith

Nic Smith is a Senior Director for CBRE Americas Consulting responsible for translating clients’ business objectives into smart, executable, real estate strategies. He achieves this by working with clients to identify the most effective organizational design and operating model to meet their objectives. Nic then identifies the gaps and the capabilities required to transform the organization and builds the plan to develop the skills and competencies of their people. He has more than 25 years of experience in helping global organizations develop pragmatic solutions to organizational problems with an holistic approach to organizational design and development. His guided discovery approach enables clients to be fully engaged in the change process and build the culture to support the new organization and operating models.

Background

Originally from the UK, Nic spent 20+ years as President of the Piñon Group, Inc. – a boutique consulting company focused on organizational effectiveness, advising global businesses across a range of industry sectors in over 30 countries. His experience includes, developing and implementing business strategy, conducting assessments on the current state, the future desired state - and identifying the gaps. He has partnered with clients to design their organizations to effectively integrate people, processes and technology. This has include implementing change management strategies, leadership development programs and cultural initiatives to transform organizations.

His most recent role was leader of the People & Organizational Development group at the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he built the teams OD capability to support a number of mission critical projects across the laboratory.

He has delivered keynote speeches on organization, leadership and change at conferences in Shanghai, London and various US locations.
