Robert Koontz serves as Senior Managing Director and Head of Multifamily Debt Capital Markets within CBRE's Debt & Structured Finance group. Operating on a national basis, Mr. Koontz leads the firm's agency origination strategy, balance sheet and risk transfer initiatives, and correspondent and lender relationship development. He is responsible for delivering innovative financing and equity solutions to institutional clients across the multifamily capital markets landscape and plays a central role in CBRE's strategy to scale and differentiate its debt platform.
Mr. Koontz brings more than 25 years of experience in capital markets and structured finance to his role at CBRE. Most recently, he served as Head of Multifamily Capital Markets at Freddie Mac, where he oversaw the agency's capital markets execution, GSE program development, and institutional relationships at the highest levels of the market. In this capacity, he also led the Freddie Mac Q-Series program, a risk transfer structure he continues to develop within CBRE's platform. Prior to Freddie Mac, Mr. Koontz held senior roles at Wachovia Securities and Banc of America Securities, where he managed the execution of commercial mortgage securitizations across a broad range of transaction types.
