Hired as a change agent to evaluate opportunities within the Heart Center and as the accountable leader for the Heart Center, a nationally ranked program within the ANCC Magnet Designated and USNWR ranked top 5 organization. Lead 7 direct reports and 250+ FTEs including the strategic and operational oversight of the Heart Center and the Tele-Cardiac ICU Command Center. Utilizing change management and Lean principles addressed and significantly improved low Culture of Safety and Patient Satisfaction scores.  Realized a 25% decrease in CLABSI and a 36% decrease in HAPI in the Cardiac ICU.  Significantly reduced turnover by 35% from summer 2022 to summer 2024.  Led the Heart Center through multiple regulatory surveys without any conditions of participation findings.  Helped create and actualize a Pediatric Lung Transplant program while continuing to lead the Heart and Kidney Transplant Programs both with stellar outcomes.

  • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Nurse Manager, Pediatric ICU *

Accountable leader for 75-bed Pediatric ICU in a nationally ranked department within the ANCC Magnet Designated and USNWR ranked top 5 organization. Lead 7 direct reports and 400+ FTEs including the strategic and operational oversight of the PICU.  Utilizing change management and Lean principles addressed and significantly improved low Culture of Safety and Patient Satisfaction scores.  Realized a 19% reduction in all patient harm, 19% decrease in PIVIE and a 79% decrease in HAPI.

Chosen to lead an interdisciplinary team in schematic design and design development for a new 28-story, 1.3M SF, critical-care tower. 

  • Medical University of South Carolina- Children’s Hospital Nurse Manager, Pediatric Heart Center and Congenital Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Program *

Accountable leader for the Pediatric Heart Center in a USNWR ranked department within the ANCC Magnet Designated flagship division MUSC Health. Lead two assistant nurse managers and 150+ FTEs including the strategic and operational oversight of the continuum of care for pediatric/congenital cardiac patients.  Nurse leader in developing the strategic vision for the Heart Center.  

Chosen to lead a large interdisciplinary team in designing and planning for the new Heart Center in the new 11-story, 625,000 SF, replacement hospital.  Including overall space planning, schematic design, design development, equipment selection, and program management as well as capacity building for new units.  

Utilizing change management, Studer Principles and Lean principles addressed and significantly improved low Culture of Safety scores and patient satisfaction. Instituted the Solutions for Patient Safety, Safety Coach program, on two units which resulted in the elimination of CAUTI, CLABSI and VAP.  Implemented a cross-training program for staff throughout the Heart Center resulting in increased staffing flexibility and the ability of the acute care unit to accept and care for higher acuity patients.

  • Saint Peter’s University Hospital Nurse Manager, Acute Care Pediatrics, Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Critical-Care Transport, and the Sedation Program *

Accountable leader for a multi-specialty pediatric unit, PICU, Pediatric Critical-Care Transport team and a Pediatric Sedation Program within an ANCC Magnet Designated organization.  Lead 5 assistant nurse managers and 120+ FTEs including the strategic and operational oversight of the pediatric units. 

Worked with interdisciplinary team to plan and implement the expansion and relocation of the PICU, including the hiring and training of additional staff. Implemented a cross-training program for staff of three units resulting in increased staffing flexibility and the ability of the pediatric unit to accept and care for higher acuity patients.
