Sonia Balbuena

Sonia Balbuena is currently dedicated to the CBRE’s WPP account as a Senior Transaction Manager overseeing the Latin American portfolio. Ms. Balbuena’s role involves transaction and project management of a portfolio of approximately 200 leases covering 1.8 million sq. ft. across all major Latin American countries. The properties in the portfolio are both owned and leased and include office space, data/call centers and specialty sites. Ms. Balbuena is also experienced in working with very diverse cultures and is fluent in English and Spanish with a conversational understanding of Portuguese.

Ms. Balbuena joined CBRE in November 1998, bringing more than 20 years of hospitality and facility management-related experience to the firm. As a senior manager, Ms. Balbuena provides real estate strategies to multimarket clients with comprehensive account management, facilities and project management, strategic planning and transaction management services worldwide. Ms. Balbuena manages with an emphasis on collaboration within CBRE’s lines of business to find innovative solutions from conception through implementation while adhering to client internal policies.

Prior to joining the WPP account, Ms. Balbuena was the Director of Facilities Management for the Cigna account as well as Regional Manager on the Avaya account responsible for directing facilities and operations on a global scale. Prior to Avaya, she led the corporate initiative to develop the Latin America and Caribbean portfolio for CBRE by establishing legal entities and correspondent programs within smaller markets and developed training programs for various CBRE offices throughout South America to ensure corporate guidelines become systematic. She also participated in many RFP processes including the US State Department, Proctor & Gamble, Nortel and various others.
