Focusing on retail, account-based work for Occupiers throughout the New York Tri-State Region, Stephen Sjurset is an Executive Vice President of CBRE’s Advisory & Transaction Services Group. A 20-year veteran in retail leasing, Stephen has established a reputation as one of the top Tenant Rep advisors in the industry.
Stephen’s portfolio work on behalf retailers spans over 2.2 million square feet across 490+ deals, valued at $4.23 Billion -- since 2011. Additionally, his portfolio optimization and restructuring strategy work on behalf of retailers has translated into $100+ million in rent savings and cost avoidance over 150+ transactions.
The impact of Stephen’s work is wide-ranging, from global flagships along Fifth, Madison and Soho to milestone openings for new store concepts to the design and implementation of strategic market entry programs, all within the New York Tri-State Region.
Stephen’s client list touches every sector of the retail industry placing him at the center of retail activity throughout neighborhoods across New York City. Recent occupier portfolio programs include market entry strategy and execution for brands such as Tend, One Medical, CorePower Yoga and Modern Age. Earlier in Stephen’s career, he had the opportunity to reposition retail space for Lincoln Center, Blackstone, The Hearst Corporation, Conde Nast, Morgan Stanley and was the exclusive retail advisor for Goldman Sachs.
A leader in the retail real estate community, Stephen is active with REBNY and ICSC, having previously co-founded NY ICSC’s Next Generation Program. The CBRE platform often leverages his retail knowledge as it relates to public relations, research data, market intel and capital markets. Stephen was elected to CBRE’s National Retail Advisory Board as founding member and currently sits on their Americas Digital Advisory Council.
