Associated Office
Tony Beck is a Senior Vice President, Industrial & Logistics in CBRE’s Southern Virginia region, he focuses on local, regional, and national business development with industrial and port-related clients. Based in Norfolk, Mr. Beck utilizes his expertise in development, asset management, port and supply chain management to provide investor and occupier clients, full-service offerings and access to CBRE’s global and national expertise and resources.
Mr. Beck has over 28 years of private and public real estate company experience. Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Beck served as a Senior Vice President at CenterPoint. In this position, he was responsible for the sourcing of new development opportunities, market expansion, successful client relations and transactional negotiations of development for major port markets on the East Coast. Mr. Beck also has a deep knowledge of the industrial sector, one of the most active areas in the commercial real estate industry in recent years. Earlier in his career, Mr. Beck served as Vice President and Corporate Officer at First Potomac Realty Trust.
Mr. Beck holds a Bachelor of Science of Business Administration from Old Dominion University and completed the MBA Certificate Program from the Management Institute at the University of Richmond - Robins School of Business.
Significant Assignments
- Norfolk – Development of a 1,500 acre logistic park including all infrastructure. Responsible for the development of all the initial infrastructure and the first 1.6 million SF of warehouse/distribution facilities. The concept behind the development was to build a short line intermodal facility with CSX, but the backed out at the eleventh hour because they did not want to disrupt their main line usage into the Port of Virginia. Equiss acquired the land and buildings in December of 2018, the park current has close to 4.5 million SF within the park.
- Port of Newark – Responsible for the approval and acquisition of a abandon resin facility on approximately 12.7 acres located less than 3 miles from the main gate of the Port of Newark. This was a brownfield site that required demolition, Corp, City of Newark, and EPA approval. The eventual project and facility were approved and a 183,000 SF distribution building was built on the site.
- Greenville/Greer SC – Inland Port – Responsible for, and assisted with the development and infrastructure of a 1.3 million SF logistics campus for BMW at the Inland Port of South Carolina. Negotiated with the Greenville/Spartanburg Airport Authority on the ground leases for all the facilities and infrastructure.
- Savannah GA – Responsible for the development of a 250 acre site within 4 miles of the main gate of the Port of Savannah. The park was completed and built out with eight distribution and container storage facilities. The park had numerous issues varying from wetland mitigation and brownfield sites.
- Port Everglades – Responsible for the negotiation and development of 291,000 SF in a two-building complex on land owned by Port Everglades. Negotiated the ground leases with the Port Authority and a build to suit tenant in the 141,000 SF facility that was utilized by Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection.
