CBRE announced today the expansion of its Debt and Structured Finance team in Texas with the addition of Tom Burns as Vice Chair, an industry veteran with nearly two decades of experience in commercial real estate finance.

Based in CBRE’s Dallas office, Burns brings a proven track record of executing complex commercial real estate financing transactions nationwide, having closed deals totaling more than $20 billion throughout his career. He will focus on growing CBRE’s Debt & Structured Finance business across Texas, providing tailored financing solutions to commercial real estate owners and developers.

“With Tom’s addition to our team, we are poised to drive significant growth in our Capital Markets business as market conditions continue to improve,” said James Millon, President of U.S. Debt and Structured Finance at CBRE “His depth of experience and strong relationships will play a crucial role in expanding our market presence in Texas and offering top-tier solutions to our clients."

Burns joins CBRE from Affinius Capital (formerly Square Mile Capital), where he specialized in sourcing and structuring commercial real estate loans and preferred equity, with a focus on Texas and the Western U.S. Prior to joining Square Mile in 2019, he served as Managing Director at Deutsche Bank, where he led the firm’s Dallas office and closed loans totaling over $10 billion. Earlier in his career, he held a senior position at Transwestern Capital Advisors in Beverly Hills, California.

“I am eager to join CBRE, leveraging the relationships and insights cultivated over nearly 20 years in lending to guide owners and developers with their commercial real estate requirements,” said Burns. “I look forward to growing the Dallas office, enhancing CBRE’s market share, and delivering innovative and exceptional financing solutions.”
