CBRE announced the opening of its new, 5,443-sq.-ft.-office suite on the ground floor at 5790 Fleet Street in Carlsbad, Calif. In addition to the Carlsbad office, CBRE has an office in San Diego at 4301 La Jolla Village Drive, where the company has operated since the mid-2010s.

The new office is part of CBRE’s Workplace360 program, which showcases space standards, including innovative technology and a wider variety of collaborative spaces designed to support hybrid working.

CBRE launched its Workplace360 program over a decade ago in its downtown LA office. Since then, CBRE has opened more than 100 Workplace360 offices worldwide, continually updating the program as work habits have changed over the years, especially with the increase in hybrid work recently.

"The Workplace360 space in Carlsbad was designed to bring the outdoors inside," said John Frager, CBRE's regional leader for San Diego. “Our CBRE design team drew from the nearby beaches to create a dynamic space featuring a calming, warm, and approachable environment with a variety of work areas to support collaboration.”

The design of the space draws inspiration from Carlsbad’s surrounding area and beaches. In that theme, the conference room is named Palomar after the local state park. The interior features nature inspired hues and fabrics bringing the outdoors inside. Local art will highlight the beaches through photography and abstract pieces.

The renovated ground-floor suite features around six different work areas, including focus rooms, huddle rooms, conference rooms, work benches, and open collaboration areas. New office technology, including video conference rooms, allows for hybrid work collaboration between employees and clients. A virtual companion whiteboard—which can be used simultaneously by in-person and remote employees—allows for productive hybrid meetings, client pitch preparations, and brainstorming sessions. Additionally, the office has various digital displays in the common areas to showcase announcements and support events within the office.

A cornerstone of the Workplace360 model is its free-address approach, in which there is no dedicated seating. The free-address approach allows employees who are in the office on a given day to use any workstation or office.

“We leveraged insights from our Workplace360 offices over the past 10-plus years to create a flexible and collaborative workplace in Carlsbad,” said Peter Van Emburgh, Global Head of Real Estate at CBRE. “The new refreshed space will support hybrid working and the office’s growth.”
