CBRE announced today it will partner with the National Cattle Congress in the coordination and planning process for the redevelopment of the historic National Cattle Congress grounds, a 50-plus acre site with over 228,000 square feet of event space in Waterloo. The site will be redeveloped to modernize the existing fairgrounds and facilities while also offering new construction and land development opportunities throughout the site.

CBRE’s Mike Macri III, CCIM, MRED, CRE, has been appointed the exclusive development consultant and sales and leasing agent on behalf of the National Cattle Congress.

"We are honored to partner with the National Cattle Congress to develop a marketing plan that maximizes the community value and benefits of the grounds so many have come to know and love,” said Macri. “We’re excited for the new attractions and updates to all of the historic facilities that will ensure the financial viability and mission of the National Cattle Congress for the next 100 years.”

The site is located at 257 Ansborough Ave., near the Highway 218 and Ansborough Avenue intersection, minutes west of downtown Waterloo. The National Cattle Congress provides year-round events and activities for the Cedar Valley region at the grounds, which features a mix of 10 indoor and outdoor buildings including the Electric Park Ballroom, with a capacity for over 1,100 occupants and the Hippodrome, an indoor sports and concert venue built in 1936.

“The National Cattle Congress’s plans for this project are designed to give our organization better capability in delivering our mission, which is to provide memorable and lasting shared experiences across all agricultural, artistic, educational and leisure activities for our visitors,” said Deb Pullin-Van Auken, National Cattle Congress President. “Despite these plans, we aren’t expecting any disruptions to our largest annual event, the upcoming National Cattle Congress Fair, which runs from September 18th through the 22nd, or any other planned events.”
