The DC/Baltimore area ranks third overall for BioPharma Research & Development in CBRE’s annual U.S. Life Sciences Talent Trends report, which analyzes life sciences employment by subsector, mapping out the top markets and employment trends across the research & development, manufacturing and medical technology fields. This year, CBRE also expanded its third-annual analysis to include 100 U.S. markets, up from 74 analyzed in last year’s report.
“Recent capital-markets shocks had produced an enduring level of caution within the life sciences sector; however, the growth switch has flipped back on,” said Tommy Cleaver, and Executive Vice President in CBRE’s Washington, D.C. office. “We expect the expansion will resume the latter part of this year into 2025. Access to an abundance of specialized talent remains the No. 1 driver in site-selection decisions, which bodes well for the future of our region. We have cultivated a robust pipeline of talent that will feed our ecosystem for years to come, and that is precisely what the industry’s leadership is looking for.”
