The Quirk Hotel Charlottesville, an 80-room luxury-lifestyle property located in Downtown Charlottesville, VA has sold. Blue Suede Hospitality Group has acquired the property from Quirk Hotel, LLC in a transaction that closed on April 29, 2024. A sale price was not disclosed.

Centrally located in Charlottesville’s Historic District, immediately adjacent to the Downtown Mall and University of Virginia, the Quirk Hotel Charlottesville has become a vibrant hospitality landmark since its opening in March 2020. The highly curated, boutique hotel is the market’s premier, independent luxury destination and features upscale amenities including an art gallery, a 6,000-square-foot rooftop offering panoramic views of Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as multiple signature food & beverage outlets including Pink Grouse, a full-service restaurant.

“Katie and I want to thank our guests, artists, and investors for supporting Quirk Charlottesville over the past four years. We are especially grateful to our wonderful team for their hard work and dedication. Not all ventures or pursuits go as planned and opening two weeks before Covid certainly presented many challenges. Katie does plan to keep Quirk Gallery open in its current hotel location.” shared Ted Ukrop, principal of Quirk Hotel, LLC. “We intend to refocus our energy and efforts on our flagship Quirk Richmond location. We are pleased that our management company, Retro Hospitality, will continue offering management services to Blue Suede for a seamless guest and employee experience. Katie and I wish Blue Suede great success in Charlottesville.”

Carter Gradwell, a Vice President in CBRE Hotels Institutional Group, advised the seller in the transaction.

“It has been an honor to represent Quirk Charlottesville to a highly distinguishable transaction,” said Gradwell. “It is increasingly rare for a hotel of the Quirk’s pedigree to transact; by acquiring, Blue Suede has invested in an asset and market that is poised for continued long-term success.”
