Originally designed by Paul R. Williams, famed architect to the stars, this historic 30,000-square-foot Colonial Revival building was reimagined into a midcentury marvel by Spanish Architectural firm SelgasCano. Decades apart these two visionaries have unwittingly become partners, fusing the timelessness of the past with a forward-thinking design that embodies the future workplace. A former Hollywood parking lot has been transformed into a two-acre site with a sprawling, creative office campus designed with a modern approach. Located in the heart of Hollywood, this thriving campus offers businesses an immeasurable opportunity to be seen as an anchor in the community.
SelgasCano reinvented the workplace cubicle, by creating “studios,” encased in faceted glass from desk height up, with sound-buffering carpet below. Long, wavy-edged team desks, punctuated by eclectic table lamps, line the interiors. An outdoor fountain and grand stairway lead into the main building and reflect the architect’s vision of a hip, fresh and imaginative design that aligns with the rest of the campus. Outside the main building, the site is encompassed by sixty oval-shaped office pods of varying sizes, which are topped with bright yellow rooftops, outfitted with glass walls and are each independent of the others.
The campus already features all of the new air quality, hygienic components and social distancing measures that employees need to feel safe and secure when returning to the office.
The garden office pods are stand-alone buildings with individual air filtration systems that pump in fresh air directly from the outdoors and are coupled with operable windows that maximize the level of indoor air quality. Hospital-grade MERV-13 air filters in all common areas capture and flush out airborne toxins and contaminates – this simply can’t be replicated and is unique to this campus. Every detail has been architect-designed with health and safety in mind. Used throughout are Corian desks and countertops, a certified hygienic non-porous material that is widely used in hospitals and can easily be sanitized, touch-free light switches with motion sensors to keep microbes at bay, and single-story pods finished with polished concrete floors are a sampling of the measures taken to keep employees safe and secure during a time of uncertainty in the workplace.
