We’re elated to honor Todd Caruso’s outstanding vision, dedication and commitment with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his 40 years of service and leadership at CBRE.

In addition to his vast knowledge, expertise and experience in retail clients, property and development, Todd is a genuine, thoughtful and respectable person,” said Gary Beban, former CBRE President and one of Caruso’s mentors. “Todd’s combination of his career achievements and his personal practices are a rare mix, and CBRE’s clients and professionals alike are the benefactors of Todd’s four-decade presence.”
Caruso joined CBRE in 1983 and has risen through the ranks to now serve as Retail Services Leader, Americas. He leads and supports more than 500 professionals in providing management and leasing solutions to investor clients across the Americas Region, including the firm’s Urban Retail and mixed-use practice areas. Caruso is responsible for the growth of CBRE’s retail management and leasing portfolio of more than 500 million sq. ft. of property in the U.S.
Caruso’s impact spans the business. He provides guidance and input on everything from business development to financial decisions to recruitment efforts and much more. He was recently appointed to lead CBRE Retail on an interim basis and pave the way for the next chapter of CBRE Retail success.

Caruso’s passion for commercial real estate is contagious. Even outside of the office, he has always led by example – so much so that his two children have also gone into the business.
“His ability to lead those around him in an eloquent and effortless way has been such an example to all of us,” said Margot Caruso, Todd’s daughter and Associate at JLL. “He has the ability to selflessly put those around him before himself.”

Caruso’s previous experience includes Retail Sales and Leasing, overseeing CBRE’s Midwest Regional Retail business and managing two of the company’s Chicago offices.
In his free time, Caruso is involved in numerous charitable and community organizations, including The Dreamcatcher Foundation, Feed My Starving Children, the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation for Industry Mentorship and Cancer Research and The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
