CBRE announced today that it is further enhancing its Carolinas Multifamily presence with the addition of a market-leading multifamily investment sales and land team. The incoming team of talented professionals will be led by industry veterans Tai Cohen and John Phoenix, who join CBRE as Vice Chairs.

The team will partner with CBRE’s existing multifamily teams in the Carolinas and the Southeast region. They will focus on multifamily investment sales across North and South Carolina, operating from Charlotte and Charleston. Collectively, the incoming group has successfully completed over $15 billion in multifamily transactions in the past decade, positioning CBRE as an even stronger leader in the region.

“Multifamily has been a strong performer in the Carolinas, and it is a pleasure to welcome this high impact team and its leaders, Tai and John, to capitalize on the opportunity. Their market share and client service will complement our existing multifamily strengths,” said Audrey Frey, CBRE’s South Carolina Market Leader.

Cohen brings more than 13 years of experience and has participated in over $10 billion in multifamily transactions during his career. He comes to CBRE from his own company, NorthStar REI, and prior to that served as Executive Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield.

“We are excited to join CBRE and collaborate with its outstanding partners and visionary corporate leadership. The company’s industry-leading expertise and innovative strategies create the ideal environment for success, and we are eager to contribute to its continued excellence in real estate,” said Cohen.

Phoenix has more than eight years of industry experience, having been involved in more than 250 transactions totaling over $7 billion since 2019. He previously served as Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield.

“Our team is looking forward to leveraging the comprehensive and renowned capital markets platform. This move represents an incredible opportunity to elevate our business, deliver unparalleled value to clients and contribute to the industry at the highest level,” said Phoenix.

The new team joining CBRE includes First Vice Presidents Richard Gore and Daniel Raynor; Vice President Tyler Fish; Senior Associates Patrick O’Brien and Conor Strickland; Associates Gavin Edwards and Eric Fredrickson; Senior Investment Sales Analysts Kendal Rehak and Tori Piper; and Investment Sales Analyst David Roth.

“The opportunity to partner with market-leading professionals like Tai and John further illustrates CBRE’s commitment to our clients. Our advisory capabilities across the Carolinas and the entire Southeast are substantially enhanced with the addition of these two teams,” said Shea Campbell, Managing Director of the Southeast Multifamily team at CBRE.
