CBRE announced the opening of its new Orange County office, relocated within The Boardwalk at 18576 Jamboree Road, Suite 600 in Irvine. The 52,749-sq.-ft. space is split between the north and south towers, connected by an outdoor bridge space featuring seating and Wi-Fi.
The Boardwalk was developed by Trammell Crow Company (TCC), a global commercial real estate developer and wholly owned subsidiary of CBRE. TCC's Orange County-based team will occupy a portion of the new office suite with CBRE.
The office is part of CBRE's Workplace360 program, which features innovative office designs and functionality, including in-office technology and a wider variety of collaborative spaces designed to support hybrid working. The organization first launched its Workplace360 program over a decade ago in its downtown LA office. CBRE has since opened more than 100 Workplace360 offices across the globe.
"CBRE continues to set an industry-leading standard for workplace design with an environment that attracts employees and clients into the office," said Kurt Strasmann, executive managing director of CBRE's Orange County and Inland Empire offices. "Our new Workplace360 office will serve as a showpiece to help clients conceptualize flexible work strategies for their employees."
The office features unique room types to support both highly collaborative and individual work sessions including focus, huddle, living, and conference rooms. The open-space lobby, known as the "Heart," features a variety of seating and a communal space for collaboration. A large 86" media display with a speaker system welcomes employees, visitors, and clients and assists with onsite events. The north tower also features a work lounge, providing an elevated lounge space for individual or collaborative work. A large conference room in the south tower has Liquid Galaxy, a massive digital screen set across large-format curved screens, providing a cinematic presentation experience.
A cornerstone of the Workplace360 model is its free-address approach in which no assigned seating exists. As many companies move to hybrid work models, a free-address approach enhances space vibrancy and utilization as all workstations and offices can be used by employees who are in the office on a given day, rather than sitting empty when a desk is assigned to someone who is working remotely for the day.
The new technology-focused office provides increased video-conference capabilities compared to the previous space. Each enclosed collaboration space has video-enabled technology with various interactive and embedded touchscreens for efficient meetings. Virtual companion whiteboards in the conference rooms allow employees to jointly co-create, edit, and share documents regardless of whether the attendees are in-office or remote.
Drawing inspiration from Orange County and its diverse landscapes, the space's design concept represents the juxtaposition of natural materials, vegetation, and textures. In that theme, the conference rooms are all named after local city areas and beaches. Local artists' artwork, including Pierce Meehan, Caryn Owen, Shannon Howard and Shawna Urban, is featured on the walls.
"We are pleased that CBRE’s marketwide search for a workplace in Orange County confirmed that The Boardwalk, a legacy TCC development, was the best option,” said Greg Ames, Southern California Market Leader for TCC. “The only thing better than knowing CBRE is moving there is that we are following them.”
CBRE’s Property Management team, led by Senior Managing Director Paul King, manages the Boardwalk.
In addition to the Orange County office, CBRE has offices in downtown LA, West LA, Glendale, Ontario, Santa Fe Springs, South Bay, Ventura and Woodland Hills. The firm is the largest commercial real estate brokerage in Orange County by number of licensed professionals.
