Growing confidence in the retail market driven by sustained stability
The retail investment market saw a substantial increase in total investment volume in 2025 compared with the previous year. Several large transactions in major, planned shopping centres provided a significant boost, reflecting growing investor confidence in the sector. Activity slowed somewhat in the second half of 2025, but investment in High Street retail accelerated. Investors focused selectively on strong locations with proven footfall performance. For the full year 2025, retail investment volume reached approximately €1.5 billion — a 22% increase compared with 2024.
CBRE expects this positive trend to continue and forecasts a further rise to around €1.6 billion in 2026, driven primarily by increasing confidence in the underlying fundamentals of the retail market.
