As a dedicated retail leasing and development advisor, Darrell is responsible for marketing efforts on a diverse retail portfolio of anchored shopping centers, mixed-use, street level retail, and single and multi-tenant strip centers. Additionally, he assists owners, developers and retailers in identifying new store locations, development opportunities, value-add projects, and acquisitions. He has extensive experience in site selection, new construction, redevelopment, urban infill, out-parcel development and tenant disposition.
Darrell takes a methodical approach to each project by creating a custom leasing plan which he executes through his knowledge of the trade area, tenant relationships and leadership in industry organizations.
Darrell has worked with many of the largest institutional owners and REITs as well as some of the most active retailers and developers in the region. Darrell has also led portfolio disposition for national retail and restaurant brands.
With over 20 years in retail development and leasing, Darrell has transacted with many of the most popular local, regional and national brands. His relationships with tenants and landlord have been forged over a prolific career focused specifically on retail in the Carolinas.
Originally from New Jersey, Darrell has spent his entire adult life in the Carolinas. He received a finance degree from UNC Charlotte and serves on the alumni board for the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate.
Darrell has held several leadership positions with ICSC and most recently served as the State Chair for North and South Carolina. He has chaired the ICSC@Carolinas Conference and has served numerous years on the ICSC@Southeast Conference Committee.
He lives in Charlotte with his wife, a third-grade teacher, and their four teenagers.
