CBRE has arranged a 20,000 square foot headquarters lease on behalf of their client, RedShelf, an innovation leader in course materials solutions for higher education. The company is relocating from River North to the Central Loop at 175 W Jackson.
Tony Coglianese, a Senior Vice President in CBRE’s Chicago office, represented RedShelf in the sublease transaction, with substantial remaining term on the lease. Bill Sheehy, an Executive Vice President in CBRE’s Chicago office, represented Wellright, the sublandlord. Founded in Chicago in 2012, RedShelf is a leader in the EdTech industry and transforms traditional learning materials for over 600 publishers while delivering digital content to millions of learners at nearly half of US colleges and universities.
Earlier this year, tech industry veteran Rob Holland was announced as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. “RedShelf has entered a new phase of growth with differentiated novel technology and marquee university customers, so it’s critical that our headquarters provides a solid foundation to accelerate our mission,” said Holland. “175 West Jackson gives us the space, flexibility, and structure we need to do that.”
The central loop location provides excellent access to transportation and has updated amenities that include a rooftop deck, tenant lounge, conferencing facilities, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
“RedShelf’s decision to recommit to in-person collaboration is not happening in a silo,” said Coglianese. “This move follows a trend we are seeing from our tech clients. There has been a flight to convenience for companies looking to take advantage of a distressed market, while focusing on ease of commute for employees as a critical part of their return-to-office strategy.”
