Charlie Coyne is Executive Vice President and Team Lead at CBRE in Raleigh, where he represents some of the most high-profile mixed-use developments and retail tenants across the Carolinas. In 2008, he founded the retail division of CBRE|Raleigh, establishing the firm as the market leader in retail services in the region. In 2023, Charlie and his partners sold their joint venture company to CBRE, fully integrating their success into the global platform.
Charlie now leads a team of nine retail professionals specializing in retail and restaurant advisory and landlord representation. The full-service team currently oversees more than 12 million square feet of retail and mixed-use project assignments, supports over 60 active retailer and restaurant clients, and maintains a robust pad and outparcel practice, all based in Raleigh.
Charlie personally focuses on representing high-profile tenants and owners of retail, mixed-use, and adaptive reuse properties. His powerhouse tenant clients include Harris Teeter, Wawa, Nordstrom Rack, and Chase Bank, along with several emerging brands such as South Block, Happy + Hale, Midtown Yoga, Pelato, and Call Your Mother Deli, to name a few. His landlord and investor clients range from major institutional owners to local private developers, including Prudential, Hoffman & Associates, Blackstone, Northpond Partners, Northwood Investors, and RXR.
With more than 20 years of experience in retail commercial real estate, Charlie began his career in the retail REIT industry in 2002. He is consistently recognized as one of CBRE’s top retail producers in the Southeast and has been honored by the Triangle Business Journal for his role in leading retail transactions, developments, and mixeduse projects in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
